How are crystals created

From the Hope diamond to the shiny bits in Folgers coffee, crystals have always held the power to fascinate, inspiring soothsayers and adorning the crowns of emperors throughout history. But crystals aren't just a bunch of pretty facets -- they glimmer with useful properties. They lend strength to worked metals, run our timepieces and drive the digital displays and fluorescent bulbs of modern life.Oh, and they season our food and cool our beverages as well.Yes, salt, sugar and ice are crystals, too, just like the gems, metals, fluorescent paints and liquid crystals we mentioned.

Is Jews always mean zionist

The following was adapted from remarks recently delivered on a Munk Debate podcast.Zionism is the idea that there should be a state that privileges Jews, that has a special responsibility to protect and represent Jews. You see that in the state of Israel’s symbols, which are religious, and with immigration policy, which allows a diaspora Jew like myself, to come to Israel and become a citizen on day one, and makes it virtually impossible for a Palestinian to immigrate to Israel and become a citizen. I am a Zionist because as a Jew, I believe in the importance of a state that has a special responsibility to Jews. But I also think that there are many, many examples of people who do not support that Jewish privilege in the state of Israel who are not anti-Semites.For instance, there is a component of the Jewish world that opposes Zionism.

Why isnt chastity before marriage still regarded

Nearly every religion teaches the principle of chastity before marriage, but fewer and fewer people are observing it. The Family: A Proclamation to the World teaches that "God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife" (¶ 4) and that "children are entitled to birth within the bounds of matrimony" (¶ 7).In today's American culture, most people consider sex before marriage normal. Movies, television shows, and popular music all reflect this permissive standard. God, however, has not rescinded the strict standard of chastity he taught in the Old and New Testaments. The Proclamation warns that "individuals who violate covenants of chastity .

What makes a responsible pet owner

February is “Responsible Pet Owner” month, and that got us thinking: how do we view responsible pet ownership. While there isn’t an exact definition for it the America Kennel Club gives each of us a great starting point for how we view pet ownership: “Owning a dog is not just a privilege-it's a responsibility.” Whether you own a dog or a cat one thing is for sure, owning that pet comes with great responsibility. Pets are not accessories that can be thrown aside and forgotten. Pets are companions that need love, care and devotion.

Later in the decade, computers included many software programs, sometimes called libraries, which were linked together to create the beginning of today's operating systems. The OS consists of many components and features. Which features are defined as part of the OS vary with each OS.

Was the Summarian civilization exclusively male dominated

no there was one queen listed in the the Sumerian king list. her name was KubabaThe house of Kubaba" is mentioned "in the reign of Puzur-Nirah, king of Akšak" (line 38) in the Weidner "Chronicle", a propagandistic letter attempting to predate the shrine of Marduk to an early period: "Kubaba gave bread to the fisherman and gave water, she made him offer the fish to Esagila" (line 43). Her reign as the only "king" of the 3rd Dynasty of Kish was one of peace and prosperity. Her reign is contemporary with the "Early Dynastic III" period of Sumer.

Who was Jesus of India

Essene roots of ChristianityAt the time of Jesus of Nazareth there were two major currents or sects within Judaism: the Pharisees and the Sadducees. The Pharisees were extremely concerned with strict external observance of their interpretation of the Mosaic Law, ritual worship, and theology. The Sadducees, on the other hand, were very little concerned with any of these and tended toward a kind of genteel agnosticism. Today these two groups might be compared with the Orthodox and the Reformed branches of Judaism respectively. There was also a third sect which both was and was not part of Judaism.

How did eye contact evolve

The Evolution of the Human Eye Sean D. Pitman M.D.© May. .  right?  Not exactly. (See discussion of the Nilsson and Pelger paper below):  The Nilsson and Pelger Theory of Eye Evolution   In 1994 Nilsson and Pelger published what was to become an oft-referenced classic paper on the evolution of the complex camera-type eye starting from a simple light sensitive eyespot.22  In their paper they argued that a series of insensible gradations, 1829 steps in all separated by 1% changes in visual acuity, could be crossed by an evolving population in about 350,000 generations - - or around 500,000 years.  The following figures illustrate their theory:     The illustration above is layered with a dark backing and has a translucent epithelial covering in front of the light sensitive cells.  Examples of creatures with simple flat eyespots include cnidarian medusa, turbellaria (flatworms that have eyespots that function as both photo- and chemoreceptors), annelids (i.e segmented worms), caterpillars, and starfish.  Earthworms and sea urchins have eyespots consisting of single-celled photoreceptors scattered all over their surface epithelium ( Link ).  The entire bodies of some creatures with eyespots are largely translucent.  Some of these creatures have no associated pigmented cells and therefore cannot tell any sort of directionality for determining the source of light. All they can tell is if the environment around them is light or dark.  However, other largely translucent creatures do have pigmented cells.  This feature allows for the direction of the source of light to be determined so that the creature can deliberately head toward or away from the source of light.            Next, the eyespot dimples inward.  This increases visual acuity by allowing the eye to sense the direction the light is coming from better than a flat eyespot.  Planarians (flatworms) have such dimpled eyes.           Next, the rim of the pit begins to constrict to form a narrower opening or "aperture".       Around this point the pit begins to fill with a clear jelly-like material.  It is thought that producing this jelly would be rather simple for most creatures - probably no more than one or two mutations.  It is suggested that this jelly or slime helps to hold the shape of the pit, and helps to protect the light sensitive cells from chemical damage.

What is PL SQL

PL/SQL is a block structured language that enables developers to combine the power of SQL with procedural statements. All the statements of a block are passed to oracle engine all at once which increases processing speed and decreases the traffic.Disadvantages of SQL:SQL doesn’t provide the programmers with a technique of condition checking, looping and branching.SQL statements are passed to Oracle engine one at a time which increases traffic and decreases speed. SQL has no facility of error checking during manipulation of data.Features of PL/SQL:PL/SQL is basically a procedural language, which provides the functionality of decision making, iteration and many more features of procedural programming languages.PL/SQL can execute a number of queries in one block using single command. One can create a PL/SQL unit such as procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and types, which are stored in the database for reuse by applications.PL/SQL provides a feature to handle the exception which occurs in PL/SQL block known as exception handling block.Applications written in PL/SQL are portable to computer hardware or operating system where Oracle is operational.PL/SQL Offers extensive error checking.Differences between SQL and PL/SQL:SQLPL/SQLSQL is a single query that is used to perform DML and DDL operations.PL/SQL is a block of codes that used to write the entire program blocks/ procedure/ function, etc.It is declarative, that defines what needs to be done, rather than how things need to be done.PL/SQL is procedural that defines how the things needs to be done.Execute as a single statement.Execute as a whole block.Mainly used to manipulate data.Mainly used to create an application.Cannot contain PL/SQL code in it.It is an extension of SQL, so it can contain SQL inside it.Structure of PL/SQL Block:PL/SQL extends SQL by adding constructs found in procedural languages, resulting in a structural language that is more powerful than SQL. The basic unit in PL/SQL is a block.
